Larynx Model Surgical Training Platform
Modular dry-lab system for endoscopic, laser and powered-instrument training
A high-fidelity laryngeal surgical training platform
The LAR-41 Larynx Model Surgical Training Platform is a modular, reusable dry-lab system designed for hands-on training in transoral and endoscopic laryngeal procedures.
Developed in collaboration with ENT surgeons and clinical educators, the platform enables realistic procedural training using rigid and flexible endoscopes, lasers, coblation systems and powered instruments — without the cost, logistics or regulatory complexity of cadaveric laboratories.
Its integrated suspension architecture, transparent anatomy cartridge and interchangeable pathology inserts make the LAR-41 ideally suited to clinical education programmes, device training workshops and regional roadshows.
Designed for device-based procedural training
The LAR-41 Larynx Model is not a static anatomy model. It is a complete procedural training workstation.
The system enables surgeons to practise:
- Endoscope navigation and positioning
- Instrument access and working angles
- Visualisation and hand–eye coordination
- Energy-based and powered-instrument techniques
All within a stable, repeatable and instructor-controlled training environment.
Key training features
Lightweight, portable platform
The model is exceptionally light, making it easy to transport for:
- Regional training events
- Mobile dry labs
- Hospital-based workshops
- Product roadshows
Integrated suspension laryngoscopy training system
A custom suspension attachment is supplied with the platform, removing the need for third-party suspension laryngoscopes and enabling rapid setup.
This allows:
- Stable transoral access
- Realistic working geometry
- Endoscope and instrument compatibility
- Consistent training conditions across courses
Secure tabletop mounting
25 mm mounting slots with adjustable straps allow the platform to be secured to a table, bed or training station, ensuring excellent stability during endoscopic and instrument-based procedures.
Transparent larynx–trachea anatomy cartridge
A rigid, clear anatomical housing allows instructors and trainees to see exactly where the endoscope is positioned inside the airway.
This enables:
- Real-time teaching and demonstration
- Immediate correction of endoscopic technique
- Visualisation of the navigation pathway
- Improved understanding of working planes
This feature provides a major educational advantage over cadaveric training.
Interchangeable pathology inserts
Soft internal pathology inserts simulate a range of common laryngeal conditions, including:
- Laryngeal tumours
- Vocal cord polyps
- HPV papilloma
Inserts can be exchanged in seconds, allowing multiple procedures and pathologies to be trained on a single platform.
Future pathology inserts can be developed to respond to laser, coblation and powered instruments for advanced device-specific training.
Endoscope-optimised internal anatomy
The internal geometry has been designed specifically for:
- Rigid and flexible endoscopes
- Powered instruments
- Energy devices
- Transoral surgical access
This ensures realistic navigation, access and working angles.
Procedures supported
The LAR-41 Larynx Model supports training in:
- Endoscopic laryngeal examination
- Transoral laser microsurgery
- Coblation procedures
- Microdebrider surgery
- Laryngeal tumour debulking
- Vocal cord polypectomy
- Papilloma removal
Instrument navigation and scope handling
The platform is optimised for use with rigid and flexible endoscopes, powered instruments and energy-based devices.
Modular, reusable training architecture
Each LAR-41 training system is supplied with:
- Head and neck base with integrated mounting straps
- Integrated suspension laryngoscopy training system
- Transparent larynx–trachea anatomy cartridge
- Soft, flesh-coloured pathology insert (polyp configuration as standard)
Additional pathology inserts can be ordered separately.
The only consumable is the internal pathology insert, making the LAR-41 Larynx Model a highly cost-effective platform for recurring training programmes and regional education events.
